These were captured hand-held in our garden at the end of May (and only just processed). They were captured using available light with a Panasonic G9, three with a Panasonic 45-175 telezoom (some possibly with the addition of a Canon 500D close-up lens) and five with an Olympus 60mm macro lens. Two of the 60mm macro images are stacks of JPEGs extracted from 6K video. The other six images are single raw captures.

The raw files were processed using presets in DXO PhotoLab and then Silkypix, with image-specific processing in Lightroom. For the stacks I used Helicon Focus to extract and stack the JPEGs, with post processing in Lightroom.

There are 1300 pixel high versions in this album at Flickr.

All re impressive, but my favourite is #2; the lighting is extraordinary.

Thank you!

I've seen a lot of advice about not photographing flowers in bright direct sunlight. I suppose that makes me a bit odd because I'm always on the lookout for interesting effects of light in bright conditions. You do have to be a bit careful about exposure and the processing can be a bit tricky perhaps, but I love how the results turn out sometimes.

Really like #2

Very surreal. Is there a small hero standing in front of that purple monster waiting to take it on? Or is it just a backlit flower? Best viewed on flickr
