Interesting, I always knew them as Coatimundis but it seems the last part has dropped out of fashion  . Wikipedia tells me they are also known as hog-nosed coons which is a rather ugly name for such an attractive creature. In my youth there was one in London Zoo that would stand with it’s back against the wire and it’s hand up holding the wire to steady itself while you scratched its back. No idea how that came about, but there were/are several inmates that had visitors trained .

Apparently, there's a group of about 10 living wild in Cumbria.

News to me! I see the reports describe them as “Brazilian aardvarks” which is very, very odd.

Good shot and generated a lot of interest.I had no knowledge of this creature.

Thanks everyone for likes and comments. Those animals were running around the hotel grounds and hence I was able to photograph it from quite close. This was taken with 50mm lens, with some crop in pp. I asked for the name but forgot. Coati they are here, in Mexico they were something else :)
