Lots of Sandmartins flying around when a Sparrowhawk takes one and then drowns it and flies off
with it's bounty.

Didn't realise they did this but seems they do quite often ... well captured :)
 
i think their was a video on springwatch one took a magpie, was having a lot of trouble with it as you do, drowned it in the garden pond.

Well you learn something new every day, totally unaware of this type of hunting method and to be honest if someone had told me about it I would have been a little surprised.

Great set of photos. As above, didn't know they drowned their prey.

Passed one yesterday on the side of the road eating breakfast of wood pigeon.
