Nice idea, you need to consider the background though, which is really distracting (highlights and some funky bokeh).

Yeah, it was a practice run at work - need to get around to doing it properly.

Make some space in a garage or shed. Try a black sheet from Primark (couple of quid) and put it on a table/chair/flat surface, with a black backdrop. Then a glass with the milk. That's the way I would try next

Will have to do it outside, I need the sunlight to get the high shutter speeds, my flash aint good enough and limits the shutter to 1/250

The flash will freeze the splash. It the flash moves having it pointing up at the roof. If it's fixed use some white card to deflect it. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-make-a-supersimple-bounce-flash-for-your-dslr/

no I know - but I use the Sony A77's 12fps shooting to get the full range of the splash. Which doesn't do 12fps if I use the flash....

Busy photographing bugs at the mo' but it is on my list to redo. I think I'll do it with a mug of tea next time though.
