Excellent Wasp pics.
Probably a Queen, out of hibernation, and having "a clean up".

I had an early sighting of a Queen Wasp this year myself, she was basking on one of my sons footballs, on our lawn...on the 13/1/15!
Also seen at the same time/date in our garden was a Red Admiral butterfly, then to really make my day, at the top of our driveway, a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly!!
