Whilst not actually close up or macro, I have a question about still life and thought this to be the mos appropriate part of the forum.

A few days ago I went to take some photos of a new cafe that a friend has opened, she wanted some of the place itself, some of the customers, and some of the food on offer. So, I went with my EOS 7D, selection of lenses and a tripod and set myself up next to a table for the food shots. Camera set to manual focus, IS off and ready to shoot at a few aperture settings with ISO 100 to see which looked the best for their website. I used both my 50mm f/1.8 and 24-105mm f4/L lenses in the most part, and even at f/22 I was surprised as to how 'relatively' shallow the DOF was.

Is this something you just have to accept, or are there any tips and tricks to get more in focus?

DoF has its limitations but
• shooting at ƒ22 will indeed increase your DoF but will cost you sharpness,
• focus stacking is a solution but most unpractical in a café environment,
• I use PC lenses and the limited Scheimpflug effect they are capable of.
