This is my local beach which is about 15 minutes drive from home. It isn't usually this wild and it kept the surfers in because of what is called "dangerous surf conditions".


A cyclone out at sea. The cliffs are around 30 metres high.

Not a lot of surf in Austria . I've only seen it where there is deep water going into rocks and even then it isn't very common. But, more common here than in Mitteleuropa.
 
We'll, I know they had one, but i heard that it sunk. It was never a very big navy so they may not have replaced it.

In the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, there were Marine and Navy;
since it had costal waters then and had ambitions for more. Nowadays, it is
very small — in a Canadian eye! — and the ambitions vanished in history.
 
Well, I can't see why Austria can't have a navy just because it has lost its access to the sea. Bolivia has quite a large navy, of 5000 persons apparently, and Chile grabbed their bit of coast about 150 years ago. Doesn't Austria have a bit of the Danube? Surely that warrants a speed boat or two?

Sure, there are plenty of all kinds of floatation devices but
no state operated except maybe police and customs.
 
Back wash is just stunning!
The set as a whole is lovely, but Backwash is on another level.
 
Backwash is stellar.
It's about the closet to perfection I have seen in this style of image.
Composition, anticipation, timing, colour and shutter speed combined superbly, - and brilliantly executed.
 
I do like backwash, great shot, and no rock fishing too - looks scarey!

Time to go needs a bit of straightening.

Thanks for the nice comments. I'll try for more when I get the chance. Stormy weather is often good for photography, but also challenging.
