Hi guys. The family took a walk to the local park the other day when it was nice and sunny. I wanted to get some nice ones of my son and dog. I managed to hand pick about 8 our of a few hundred and processed the ones I really like. Now, have I gone overboard with the PP? I wanted to make them even more summery than what they were, I am pleased with results myself but a little advice from you guys will do me a world of good.

I really like the second one in particular, very Martin Parr-esque.

I think you've recovered the skies and boosted the saturation a little bit much but bigger improvements could be had by thinking about where the light and shadows are falling. Overhead bright sunshine is probably the most difficult lighting to make good use of.

To add to what juggler says, a bit of flash to lift the shadows would have made a big difference, especially in number one..

Cheers. I never thought to use the flash in daylight,. Makes perfect sense.

It is as easy as you want to make it - turn down your flash a little (try 2/3rds of a stop as a starting point and experiment from there) and as long as your shutter speed is at or below your cameras sync speed it'll make a big difference.
You can make it way more complicated as with everything once you get a feel for it and what it does.
Lots of online info - just a couple of randomly chosen articles here -
