For a number of wildlife crimes ('Level 5 offences') the fine, upon conviction, is now unlimited rather than a maximum of £5,000. This was due to a change in Magistrates' sentencing powers, rather than a specific wildlife crime related increase. That's the standard tariff for any wildlife crime

In addition to any sentence upon conviction, in certain circumstances The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 may also be applicable which, amongst other things, enables confiscation orders to be made against convicted individuals (requiring a payment to the State based upon the benefit obtained from their crimes), and the civil recovery of proceeds of crime from unconvicted individuals.
