Wild Swans! …post them in this communal thread.

Beautiful water, smooth light…
What have you done in PP to the swan, Dale?

Bit of a crop to compose things better and just a little tweak of levels as it was a little dark originally, then darkened the corners back down to hold the viewer's eye in and flipped horizontally to read left to right.

I see.
Everything look ok but the swan…
Seems over worked even when looking
on flickr.

It could be the neck, as we may expect it to be white but as they can't effectively keep their necks clean, they take on this orangey colour. Just a theory.

That would be better with the full reflection.

That is an option that I rarely use as shown in
all four pictures I posted on this page alone.

…a splendid day ended, within an hour, into a very
scary electric storm with powerful wind. It lasted for
an hour and then the magic: the Sun sneaked under
the remaining clouds…

Just a phone snap as an update from post #325, but the young ones are growing up fast! The other 4 were feeding separately, bit all much the same size.

Very good take Tom!

All the Swans where doing this a lot so i think they could be moulting

This behaviour is observable all year around and
not only in the mounting time (except on cold days
of winter!). :)

Beautiful reflections, Tom! (y)

Thanks Daniel, must say i'm loving the 'feel' ? of images produced by this d300, a bargain of a camera at the moment.

John - No 2 image - get rid of that "crap" at the bottom - it does and adds nothing

you have gone "tight" crop again - OK your preference but give the guy a bit more space to breathe

they are average shots to good, but lack the extra, they are good but need that little extra to make them stand out .. certainly worth posting for discussion ....... you always post good and worthwhile images these days

which do I prefer .. probably #2

Interesting Bill...... The above shots are from four years ago, not long after I was getting 'into' the hobby.......;)

However, just by pure chance, I papped a swan today (not much else going about). Really bad day weather wise, but that can help with these guys:

Morning John

as I said IMHO "they are average shots to good, but lack the extra, they are good but need that little extra to make them stand out"

try reprocessing them to see if it makes any difference
