Aww, not sure what you mean
The whites are well over the 255/255 mark.
The DR of your camera may be well overwhelmed over
8 stops. In this case, shoot to the left using some negative
compensation so to record more details in the higher keys.
It is what I do and this is the result…
Thanks. I haven't altered the saturation. I underexposed by 1/2 a stop to avoid blowing the whites. (Getting used to the blinkies ).•
…a tad oversaturated but darn cool otherwise!
…definitely on the right track…
but you could do even better!
These conditions permitted your successful attemptovercast today
Why that?trying keep the right settings was difficult,
Excellent shot Charles.... I was much too far away to get anything this good - though I thought this was the plastic one that floated by !! lol

Find a way to control the whites
and you're heading for the skies!
•Not sure which processed image is preferable though.
Don't worry about that… it's the trees thatI like the first one because it doesn't show so much of the green tint in the water.
I did STTL! I must have overdone it in PP again.•
None of both!
STTL and use tonal taming. These steps
will simplify greatly the decision making
and improve your final renditions.
Don't worry about that… it's the trees that
are reflected. To avoid, position yourself
so to get a sky reflection for blue water.
Admittedly, the younger ones are easier.
Thank you! I have a feeling the different screen I used while editing must have worked well!Yes, because of the colour of their juvenile plumage!
Oddly, as you say you're improving your captures, I
see tremendous evolution in the graphic elements
you include in the takes!
