Looking for a Tanzania safari later in the year with my wife for our 30th anniversary.

It's been 20 years since we last did a 'package' holiday preferring to organise our own escapes. I don't mind whether it's a big company or a small company as long as they're good and the service is there.

I've googled and there's an awful lot of choice out there but any companies other TP members have used and would recommend would be appreciated as would who to stay clear of.

Once I've got dates and itinery then I'll post up about which lenses to take (or more likely acquire) before I go ;)

We've just booked a safari holiday in Zambia (South Luangwa Park) with Naturetrek. We have used them before, but only to the Somerset levels so a slightly different trip. They were very good though.

They also run trips to Tanzania.

I was there many years ago ('70s). Be sure to visit Lukanga swamps and the Victoria Falls when you're there. The Falls is a must see for anyone.
Some of the towns are interesting too. Kabwe (used to be called Broken Hill) is where some of the oldest hominid fossils come from.
It's brilliant seeing animals in the wild too.

I have only done one safari trip.

I used this site for lots of simple, concise information

The agent I used was 'Luxury Safari Company'.

Very, very pleased! One of their suppliers; ''&beyond'' were superb.
This is an excellent forum for anything safari... http://safaritalk.net/
Could also see if @ndwgolf is in the house as I'm sure he has some wonderful photos from there.

Thanks, this is exactly the sort of info I was after

Look at Tangawonders...

Link in my signature. My sister & hubby had a great time with them...

If you are travelling independently at any stage, and need GPS, be aware that Google and many Sat Nav maps don't have great coverage in Tanzania compared to the open OpenStreetMaps(OSM). Especially away from the big cities. Which is why the humanitarian organisations use OSM for their field and medical teams. Install OSMAnd smartphone App, for example, before you go.

Google is useless for navigation without an internet connection, remember.
