Textures in the trees.

It must be a lovely clean air environment...... AFAIK Old Man's Beard is a marker plant of clean air.

PS to state the obvious, it is the paler "hairy" growth one ;)
 
Thanks for the id, it is a beautiful wooded gorge and there is lots of the Old Man's Beard everywhere there.

The whole area seemed to be dripping when we were there, the footpath through the area climbs quite steeply in places, following the river in the gorge below.

There is a rather special bridge there too, but the light wasn't on my side, but it will be there another day, something to look forward too.
 
As an old man with a beard, I prefer to call the yellow-green lichen Usnea; the grey one on the right is Hypogymnia. David - where is this gorge? As I live near Bethesda I might know it.
