Went down to the Thames Barrier a few weeks ago, wanted to try some neutral density shots but had a few technical difficulties. So I did some bracketed shots of the Barrier from a multitude of angles, and settled on this one. I intended to do some HDR processing (using Luminance), but wasn't happy with the results, I lost all the detail on the barrier. So I tried blending 2 exposures using GIMP, I preferred the silky water on the longer exposure, and the highlights of the barrier. My first attempt at blending.

Wow, great exercise! …brilliant colours!
The only nick is the halo on the right of the concrete base… I went to see
the larger version and discovered that the feathering was not set right and
the compression did the rest.

I love this! great capture. and for a first attempt great blending!

Lovely stuff, looks great with the city skyline in the background

I agreevwith thabove its a lovely image with great light.

this type of night shot never fails to excite...its quiet and nothing is moving to blur up the impact
