I had no idea, when doing a shoot for the Historical Society, of
what was to be discovered in the process.

The building is a long four story high old mill that is very well
preserved.

As I got under the roof of the fourth floor, my presence created
a commotion in this little society of sleepers. Without thinking
much, I took this shot… the only one! :( There must have
been half a dozen larger groups under that roof but they all flew
away in no time… I was sorry I disturbed them…

Here, they already got quite agitated even before the flash!

Hopefully they have completed hibernation and there is food for them to hunt for and roost again as needed???

In the UK AFAIK all species of bats are protected and disturbing them is a prosecutable offence.

I meet Gerhart — the owner of the mill — and will ask
some questions… as I have very little knowledge about
these precious mammals.

Here too thankfully!
disturbing them is a prosecutable offence.
You're not gonna… I, no one knew they were there!
It was an accident, please your honour… :jawdrop:

Off to jail K...............:)(great photo, don't suppose there was too much harm done)

… you… merciless, cold hearted!
thanks Mark!

By the time I left the building for the jail , they were all back! :exit:

An accidental flash Daniel ... you will have to take more care. :police:

Disturbing them in the first place was… but not the flash!
