The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I used the 24mm 1.4 at a wedding the other day, whilst I haven't really looked at the images as I was second shooting this - what it did do was allow me to enjoy the 50mm 1.4 which has been otherwise gathering dust whilst I used the 35/85 combo.

I took the 50mm with to some live music yesterday afternoon and took a few shots

Magic. Love #3

Any predictions on the price of the Sigma 35mm 1.2 or 14-24

Hmm... I just realised that to join Sony Pro Support, one must be below...:shifty:

2. Professional status
You must currently be operating as a professional photographer, providing customer invoices as a mandatory requirement of proof. Any documents that prove you work as a professional photographer, such as business registration documents, company statements, employee ID, and business cards should also be submitted. These will be jury-assessed to ensure that they meet the professional standard criteria. Assistants to professional photographers, part-timers and students are NOT qualified to apply.

Just throw in a few invoices and your good to go. They can't measure if your a full timer or not. Hard to as a freelancer. This ain't like looking at your CV and asking for reference

I find that very 'cringe', it conjures up images of very average wedding photographers strutting around flaunting their 'Pro Support' membership like some kind of badge of honour

Strange isn’t that ‘professional support’ needs you to be a professional

Nikons two tier pro membership was bit of a joke. The non professional tier was just ‘look at me I’ve got pro membership’. The pros need the fast turn around, us hobbyists don’t.

Or amateurs/hobbyist doing the same.

Can anyone remember if any alpha bodies or lenses were included in last years Amazon Prime day?

There are quite a few hoops to jump through to get membership. As well as sending them invoices for the kit I wanted to register I had to send them copies of invoices I have given to clients to prove that I am a working photographer. The U.K membership seems low in numbers if my membership number is anything to go by. I am number UK0137. Once I sent all the details in I had to wait for a panel to check my work and make a decision, they actually call it the Sony Jury.

Have seen quit a few people getting knocked back and it was a lot of hassle to sort out.

Nikon on the other hand was very easy just had to sent them my website details etc. from memory.

FE35/1.8 announced. I am bit underwhelmed tbh. RF35/1.8 is definitely more interesting!

So we looking at £650 for a non G non Zeiss lens that doesn’t even have proper weather sealing?

Welcome to post-Brexit exchange rates and prices.

As an aside the DP Review article mentions a 35mm f1.4GM which I must have missed.

I think I’m actually priced out of Photography at the moment. Just have to stick with taking everything with 70-200 lol

It seems almost exactly the size of the 55mm f1.8 which is a shame as I was hoping for a more compact lens.

If it's as good as the 55mm I don't think it'll be over priced and I'm not too sure I'd worry about it being more expensive than the Canon if it's 55mm good and from what I've read the Canon has distortion, ca and a bit of a noisy motor so it does probably need to be on the cheaper side.

I've waited quite a bit for this but I don't know if I'll bother as I do like the very compact 35mm f2.8 so I'll have to balance losing that compactness against gaining f1.8. I'm undecided at the moment. I certainly will not be pre ordering this and I might not bother with it at all.

Nice as it may be to blame Brexit it might not be as simple as that as it's (rip off Britain) been going on for years and as the minimum / living wage, the cost of utilities and everything else just keep on rising they only push price of doing business in the UK up and of course some markets have local taxes which may not be included in the headline price whereas we in the UK pay the price as advertised.
