The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Correct, its one of my firmware requests to Sony as it seems odd.
I am shooting RAW to Slot 1 - UHS-II using Sony SF-G 64GB 299mb/s SD cards
JPEG to Slot 2 - UHS-I using Sandisk Extreme Pro 64GB 300mb/s SD cards

Setup image review and playback media from Slot 2

:D

The videos I see on the A7RIII the option is SORT(RAW/JPG) and you specify slot 1.

It's just reversed on the A9

Correct,

I have asked @jonneymendoza to pass on the below list of firmware improvements to Sony at the Photography Show NEC.

Most of the features are already in the new A7R III and A7 III.

- Anti-Flicker
- Picture Profiles incl S-Log2/3 and HDR-Log
- Photo rating & Burst Photo Grouping
- 4k & 6K Photo Mode
- Eye-AF - Selective Mode for Picking Preffered Eye / Face
- Time Lapse / Intervelometer.
- Better SD Card Management which includes dual SD buffer/write indicators.
- Update Touch Screen to include swipe to review images, add full Touch GUI functionality and better selection of AF points.

I've set up modes 1 and 2

Both shutter priority starting at 1/160th
Auto ISO

1 = Moveable expandable point, no face detection
2 = Wide Area AF, face detection

How best to use eye detection?

And recommendations for C1, C2, C3?

I would've thought from looking at their range that they're heading towards specialist versions of bodies rather than blindly upping the mp count. The 3 different A7 bodies and the A9 all suit different photographers, with the A7 being the generalist. I could see some mp monsters in the future but can't see why they'd push up the A9 when in many ways it'll be seen as a negative to the intended market. I know press and sports shooters who would despise 42mp.

yeah it doesn't make business sense to have one camera that does it all.

"Camera soaked and rained on twice never got any water inside of it worked perfect."

"Sony Pro Support said they would have no issue fixing anything that got wet from what I do under warranty. Also everything I own is insured You can't live in the Pacific NW and shoot outdoors sports and not expect to get wet!"
Not the A9 but I believe the A7riii shares similar weather sealing to the A9. Water in a battery compartment = not a good combo.

Well none of us here are pro support users? Also I was referring more to how weather sealed the A9 is

I also don't think pro support gives you "special water damage warranty" because that'd be just wrong on quite a few levels if they did.

Ok I can't find a way to save my camera setup, so I could recall it in the event of failure or use it on my second camera...

He is more legit than the official warranty T&C? LOL

I am not questioning whether he abuses his gear or not, I am questioning his claim that water damage is covered under warranty.

There was a dude on this forum, his Sony a7r I think died from getting slightly wet, Sony warranty didn't want anything to do with it. They pulled the weather sealing claims from their site and promo stuff as more reports came through.

Not just sony, I don't think any manufacturer will touch any body with water damage. Any warranty from any manufacturer that I know off doesn't cover any kind of water damage for ILCs. If any one can find me one, I may just buy their gear just use in the rain.

It just doesn't make sense for them to!! because one could well use any unsealed lens/adapter/body cap/banana peel on their camera mount and then claim otherwise. How will they or you prove anything!

Exactly, the best advice is to always take extra care when outdoors.... :D

p.s. this a prime example for why you should not believe all the BS supposedly "legit" people post on internet :p

I will make sure he does.:D

Assign eye af to the focus hold button on the lens works well, though if not present I assign it to the ael button.

Yeap I have it on two buttons as not all lenses have the button on. And that button is hard to find when he camera is in portrait orientation

Sorry to hear that. Hope the op goes well.
So my Barcelona trip might be back on as my dog couldn't have the op today as she now has severe liver disease as well meaning anaesthetic is too risky so we have to get that under control first.

Anyway, I thought I might hire the A7Riii and 24-70mm to take away to try it out, camera alone is £192 for 3 days   Don't think I'll bother

Have you looked into the best way to get into Barcelona from the airport yet? Any idea if Taxis are on a meter or if you have to haggle?

:(

Hope you're able to get it all sorted, and she makes a full recovery.

Best way is just to get the underground trains. Costs a few euros.

Very nice portraits :)
Why do you say pleasantly surprised? didn't expect it to be good for portraits?

thank you.

no i know its very capable like most of the 85mm's still in production. i guess having shot a lot with the g master & 85mm f1.2 in recent times i was worrying that this little lens was going to fall well short.
