The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

That's pretty much why I don't believe anything I see on youtube and why if I'm at all interested in a camera I'll buy it and try it for myself it's the only way to know for sure.

:agree:

My unbiased opinion, I don't get paid bla bla b******t.

2008 HERITAGE CLASSIC softail
Nice

If someone had said to me 18 months ago that I’d be a Harley owner I’d have laughed at them, but now I love them (y)

Have you ever wondered why there is still no flash solution to use along with the electronic shutter surety it couldn’t be that difficult?

I expect it would be very difficult to get a flash to match the line by line readout of a sensor, and then you’d have to have camera specific flashes as readout times are different? Global shutter is the answer ;)

Maybe, but would they want to make a camera specific flash, and how much would it cost?

You've had nearly as many bikes as I've had a7rii 's

Cool
What colour?
Black. Pretty standard apart from Vance and Hines twin slash, chrome rider footboard covers, and rider and pillion backrest. Need the rider one as I ride without the screen and can’t go above 60 otherwise

I was late into bikes, was never allowed them whilst living with my folks and then couldn’t afford one whilst studying. My list:-

Yamaha FZ6
Triumph Sprint ST 1050
BMW R1200GS
Triumph Tiger 1050
Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K6
BMW R1200GS Adventure
*7 year break*
Harley Road King.

Always fancied one of THESE myself. (y)

!!! (y)

I remember wanting the rvf400 in that livery when I got my tuned nc30, when I bought the vfr I requested it to be ported, gas flowed and skimmed with jets, full race pipe etc. Custom sprayed in red, black rims, chrome stickers, loved that bike.

OK:
Honda C100
Puch maxi
Honda CB250 K4
Kawasaki S1B
Benelli 125 Enduro
BSA B175 Bantam
Honda CB250 G5
Suzuki GT550
BSA A7 shooting star
Yamaha XS500
Suzuki GS425
Brief break
Honda GL400 (import silver wing)
Honda CB400/4 (piece of junk)
Long break
Triumph Trident 900
Break
Moto Morini 500
Presently bikeless

Faves were the CB250 K4, Kawasaki S1B and the GT 550 triple. Most disappointing bike was probably the 400/4 as a totally gutless wonder.

Did sound nice though with the Dunstall pipes

No amount of 'glorious' exhaust could make up for the relative lack of enthusiasm and uninspiring handling. Perhaps I was expecting too much for a 20 year old bike, but having read around this since, a key reason the 400/4 was replaced with the Dream was that they could simply get a lot more useful power for the road out of a 400 twin while keeping the weight down and ground clearance up.

Only had a few off-road bikes, Suzuki RM80, RM125 & Yamaha YZ250 then got more into cars. My Nephew just recently sold a Ducati 916 or 996, (can’t remember the model number) that he had for a load of years.

My passion was more cars, mostly Ford and all modified to some degree: Mk1 XR2, Mk3 & MK4 XR3i hardtop and cabriolet. S1, S2 RS Turbo, Escort Cosworth, Mk1 Focus RS, Focus ST3, Mazda RX8, MX5. I remember my S2 RSturbo used to go off the speedo and wind back round to about 20mph

The rumour site thinks the upcoming new Sony camera will be small and cheap and possibly without an evf. I'd maybe be interested in a small cheap entry level camera with an evf, either SLR or RF style but I'm just not interested at all in any serious camera without a VF of some sort.

Me and Mrs WW were in a park in Middlesbrough yesterday and as we sat watching the fountain in the half light that passes for daylight here I could hardly see a thing on my phone screen when I got a call, same with Mrs WW's phone and my A7 screen was next to useless too. I could just about point it in the right direction for rough framing but for anything other than that... useless. Put any of those screens in direct light in a sunny holiday location and what are you going to be able to see? So, a VF less camera just isn't for me.

Another thing that puts me off massively is I don't like holding a thing at half arms length in front of my face whilst jabbing at it with a finger. This camera even if evf-less will almost certainly have a shutter button (unless they've gone mad) but even so, I'm just not interested and I can't imagine what would tempt me to buy one. I had an evf-less Panasonic GF1 for a while but I quickly came to dislike using it and I can't see myself going back to that way of taking pictures.

Would anyone buy an evf-less A5/6?

EVF is a must have for me and a deal breaker.
I imagine that will be the case for most FF shooters. So I'd be surprised if they omit it.

I'm sure the rumour guy previously thought it would be RF style so lets hope it has at least a small evf of some sort.

I agree but I think it's likely this one won't have an evf and will be super cheap.

It would depend on the size of the body and lenses for me but looking at the FE-mount probably not. On the other hand I have an RX1r without viewfinder as well as a GF1 and GF3 which I didn't miss the viewfinder on as the bodies were small and light enough they could be held normally without needing to be held at any distance. I almost never use the EVF on an RX100m4 nor an RX1Rm2 but on the other hand, I found the EVF a valuable upgrade on the NEX-6 over he NEX-5 with the size of the lenses needing a hand on the lens so would be the same with an FE-mount camera.
