The frustration.. oh, the frustration

I'd been schlepping around the west end of Glasgow for hours without a sniff of a decent shot, got in my car and was driving down Great Western Road in heavy traffic when I saw, on my side of the road, an elderly woman of African descent walking along with a massive bag of clothes balanced on her head and her handbag over her arm.
Yeah, that feeling.

There's a lot of talk about pocket cameras for street photography. Sounds like you you could do with a lap version?
The obvious thing, if you really want the shot, is to to go back at that time again?
Frustration becomes research?!

Yep, I think the majority of the great photos I've never taken have been seen when I've been driving. I console myself with the fact that at least I'm seeing them.

I've given up and come home early. Just not feeling it today.

Had similar on Saturday. Went to Birmingham centre to try to capture some of the new architecture only to find that there was a big EDL march going on in the centre. The visit was cut short and I beat a hasty retreat from said centre! Will try again when things are more peaceful and quieter.

Think we have all had similar experiences, just the way it goes.

There's a lot of luck involved in street photography - right place, right time etc. And plenty of regrets and missed shots; it's part of the game. Sometime I go home empty-handed after a long hard day on the streets - but I'll still have had an enjoyable day. Never give up!!

I can't count the opportunities I've missed... but I always look to the future and look for the next shot. If I didn't get it, it wasn't meant to be.
