I spent a weekend in Lahore (Pakistan) in November, primarily to see the nightly performance that is the stage kicking spectacle of the India/Pakistan border closure. Lahore was surprisingly calm on a Saturday morning as I strolled through the fort area, unhassled and enjoying the light.

Happy New Year all, and thanks for looking.

Must have been a fascinating experience - maybe you have some more from the visit?
You are obviously well travelled, some lovely photos on your Flickr.

Nice image, I'd love to see more

Very nice candid street style capture, with nice composition and some lovely contre-jour light on the subject.

Very nice. I love the Indian sub-continent, and I'm quite jealous.

Thank you for your comments...here are a few more, but more snapshot types taken on the move.

As mentioned at the top of the thread the weekend was primarily to see the flamboyant border crossing ceremony, held between Pakistan and India. After blagging our way through the checkpoints and using the power of belligerence, we sat ourselves down to watch the opposing sides get ready for their dance off. As the crowd were literally going wild swaying everywhere it was hard to get any shots that didn't have 80's style motion blur and camera shake as standard, so unfortunately a couple of stills will have to do. The Pakistani side is currently under renovation so there were a couple of thousand spectators on the west compared with around ten thousand on the Indian side, but I think the passion on the Pakistani side and the incredible friendliness of the locals helping us with chants and translating what was going on was priceless.

In the Pakistani corner wearing dapper black uniforms with grey and red headgear...

And in the Indian corner some pretty resplendent uniforms with serious facial hair...

@ancient_mariner I am hugely lucky to live within a few hours flight to the Indian sub-continent, and I always find there is more to explore. It isn't for everyone, but it is so far away from life as we know it that I find it fascinating.

Thanks for looking
