There is a foot bridge (that also carries sewage pipes) running across the Corinth canal at roughly the mid-way point. Access is 'not recommended' and there are signs warning of danger at the entrance to the waste ground through which the access road runs.

In the area around this bridge derelict concrete structures, which resemble watch posts. They are a stark contrast to the comfortable urban area of Corinth to the west, looking like the remains of an invasion that failed.

I wished there had been more time - the area seemed to have enormous potential.

Thanks Jeremy. I've had a 'local' comment on my Flickr feed - apparently these were built buy the Germans in WW2, but people have recently come to excavate soil for use elsewhere and that's why there is the strange pattern of erosion. If you ever visit Athens (itself very worthwhile) then do drive over to Corinth and take a look.
