Follow-up to my recent eye operation and they used one set of eye drops to numb my eye and another set to dilate the pupil ... they warned me that my vision would be blurred afterwards and that I shouldn't drive myself home.

I had no idea just how accurate their warning would be after I left the hospital! :D

I recently had any eye operation for and they did the same to me for glaucoma numbing several times before the op. They then inserted a "Stent" in one of them during the operation. That is a tube finer than a hair to help drain behind the eye to release pressure. Took about 3/4 weeks for the grit like feel in the eye to go away where they made an incission. My first eye checkup having been sent to see a specialist I was told I was not allowed to drive any more and i had to surrender my driving licence. Eighteen months later without a licence My eye sight was I felt better and didn't need glasses to drive only for reading.
Went to the optician who said my eyes had gone back to that of a 16 year old after doing his tests for new spectacles. He had never come across this fairly new "stent" operation and would have to read up on it.

So with that encouragement I contacted the DVLC about getting my driving licence back. They said ok go and have a DVLC eye test at Spec Savers withing so many days. They gave me a code to hand over to SS and a test was booked in.
So did the field test (you have 3 chances at it) I passed first go. Next was the letter reading bit with each line the letters getting smaller I did all of them except the last letter on the bottom line which was an M and I said W, he said read it again and that time got it right.

HadIi passed to get my licence back? they would not say ,it is down to the DVLA to read SS report to make a decision. 7 days later got a letter saying i was ok to drive and next day got my licence back to cover for the next 3 years.

The whole experience wasn't nice but better than going blind which was on the cards the specialist surgeon said. Still got to have drops in the other eye and regular hospital checkups but things are at the moment all thumbs up

Oh little note
If i had not surrendered my licence I could have been up to £1000 fine or up to 5 years in prison
