Unknown pale hairy Caterpillar

Possibly Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar, but no expert.

Thanks, that doesn't look quite right but it has set me off down the right path (I think). Annoyingly my moths book doesn't include any Caterpillar pictures. I think I've found it on Alamy, it's just described as 'A tussock moth caterpillar' or 'moth pupa' but I can't find that on the Butterfly Conservation page... Wondering if it's a young 'un, which could explain why I'm struggling to identify it...

I have no idea what it is, but I think it's a nice photo of it. As well as the clarity of the caterpillar and the well placed focus plane, I really like the way the background works to make it a very attractive image to my eye.

Thanks Nick - I have to confess to cutting off a few of the browning leaves and setting up the shot on the picnic table in the back garden before putting it back where I found it... I think it works well, glad you like it! :)
