of mid-tones but not blacks nor whites…
I took your take to my converter to confirm
and I can recognize that the DRL was not
set as it reads 11/239!
DRL = Dynamic Range Levels = black and white points setting. The histogram
will show you the spread of the recorded dynamic range in the 0/255 to 255/255
scale. As I said, the shot read 011/255 to 239/255. So, the empty space at the top
and bottom translate to a "no data" grey cast over the picture. Set the DRL left tail at 011/255 and the head at 239/255 and observe the changes. The following image
reflects just that. It is still a grey building on a grey day but…
