Hi, I am new in this forum - full of energy! If there is a US car thread already, I would ask the admins to guide me to it ...

A CADILLAC Sedan de Ville on Cadillac Mountain in Maine/USA (1992, slidescan 2005):

Actually, I never owned an American car, had them as rentals in the States, and enjoyed them there ... ----

Hi, a Swiss team, in or rather on a Ford A Speedster 1930 at the HEIDELBERG HISTORIC 2018 (never seen (or heard) this car before ... ):

Hi, I showed a LINCOLN Continental, I show an Eldorado, too (sounds a little like Leroy Brown :)D)):

Nice pictures, ridiculous cars! I love them. I don't have any pictures, but remember well driving around Texas in first a Buick Silver Star, a great boat of a thing with no acceleration but plenty of noise, and then a Pontiac TransAm (like Burt Reynolds drove in the Convoy movie) belonging to my flying instructor. That car was a contradiction in terms, a wallowing beast with some acceleration but an auto gearbox and no finesse at all! Good fun though.

Thank you for your friendly response, the first in this thread!:ty: ---

American cars are best in America, there is too little space for them on European roads or in our cities. - However, a US car enthusiast does not care about practicality.

Technically, a few sports cars are up to European standards now: Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro, Ford Mustang. Another thing is maintenance and service.

There are very few dealers, and if so, only in metropolitan areas. This is what the Camaro driver told me yesterday in Frankfurt at the US car meeting in the "Klassikstadt"
(there are special car dealers (McLaren, Lamborghini etc.) and vintage car repair and restoration shops):

Extremely rare, a Shelby Cobra (replicas are more plentiful):

Does my US spec VW Beetle count?
Well, in a way ... --- I would say your beautiful VW is an "avantgarde American car", leading ultimately to the New Beetle, which was designed and made in USA ... --- ;)

In what way? It was specced by an Austrian and designed by Herr Porsche with the German people in mind. Far too small for the American market, however well it may have sold there!

Hi, this was my answer to the first reply with a car picture in this thread. So, I gave a friendly and diplomatic answer - and got carried away a little ... ---:)

Hi, contributions from others are most welcome here! :)

I try to offer some variety, but being a car enthusiast taking car pictures - not a creative car photographer - I have my limitations ... ---

Hi, thank you for showing this rare US-car. Could be a Lincoln, Mercury or some luxury Ford ???

Less rare, a TransAm:

Not exactly common but available to Joe Public (as opposed to the H1 which was a bit harder to come by unless you were the Governator!), that's an H2.

H1's can be picked up in the UK from around £25K, wouldn't want to pay the running costs though!

Hi, as soon as you start doing your sums, the fun disappears ... (Un)fortunately I do not have room for more than three cars, two for me, one for my wife,
and the slots are occupied.

A Hummer or any other exotic car I would buy used, well maintained, the major money loss being depreciation, fuel being a minor consideration.

Maintenance and repair(s) are the bigger risk, hard to assess. US cars are exotic in Germany. There are only a few dealers and specialists for repairs.

You don't need only people who know how to handle a screwdriver, but you need trained, certified mechanics with special and diagnostic tools. - Very rare ... ---

Here in Germany, it is cheaper and less trouble to own a 30-year-old Mercedes S-class. I go to my dealer - he handles everything. A Mercedes parts-distribution centre is in my area, too.

So, a very economical way of enjoying US-cars is this thread here ... :)

Hi, an Eldorado at the 2017 MAC Rallye. I will go there later today (120 cars < 30 years, from 1951 on):

A virtual beer from me if you get a '57 Chevy (or any tri-five one!)

:beer::beer:

2 '57s, 2 virtual beers!!! One of the few Yanks I'd have on the drive.

New Mustang:
(y)
Hi, a friend of mine has one, and is very satisfied. The Mustang is serviced by all FORD dealers!

The JEEP Grand Cherokee is an interesting SUV. - For me, the next dealer is 25 mls away. And they support many brands, meaning, their mechanics must be (or should be) extremely versatile and talented ... --- :

Hi, thanks to all contributors! :) We get more variety to make this thread more interesting! ---

My favourite Thunderbird (at the Classic Gala in Schwetzingen 2017 (I shall go there again tomorrow and on Sunday)). --- Maybe it is my favourite because I had a Dinky Toys model of it :
