After much deliberation, I decided it was time to put a few road miles under the wheels and head to deepest, darkest Wales for what are considered some of the most scenic stages in the UK. The first thing to strike me was the elevation. These were some serious climbs, more akin to a rally stage in the French Alps, rather than a British forest. The stages were very wide too, a world apart from the claustrophobic forests of Kielder. This gave the drivers a lot more room for error, so we saw the cars being driven very enthusiastically, with an array of different lines.
Walking up from the stage start, to the top of the climb was a fair trek, but we were rewarded with fantastic views, and it was a good opportunity to try out a few different compositions
1) The Wind Turbines were working overtime in brutal conditions
2) There were a LOT of Escorts, but also a good variety of other historics
3) But still, quite a lot of Escorts
4) The Pikes Peak stage offers some spectacular views, better than anything I've seen in the UK
5) There were quite of lot of miles walked to get to the viewpoints
6) There were brief, and I mean BRIEF, periods of sunlight.
I'll keep it at 6 shots, though I took a hell of a lot. Any C&C would be more than welcomed.
