PRESS RELEASE

Polish Heritage Flight Debut announced for the Vintage Flying evening at Duxford 22 June 2019.

It is with an immense honour we announce that Supermarine Spitfire BM597, 315 and 317 (Polish) Squadrons veteran and Hawker Hurricane ‘P3700’, in 303 (Polish) Squadron livery, will form the "Polish Heritage Flight” and make their 1st 2019 UK public flying display on the evening of the 22nd June 2019 during the Vintage Flying Evening at IWM Duxford.

For the first time since the Hurricane wore the markings of RAF 303 (Polish) Squadron and since its staring role in the 2018 film 303 Squadron/ Dywizjon 303 both aeroplanes will display together to remember and commemorate all aircrews who came to Britain from foreign countries to defend these islands and then ultimately the liberation of Europe.
145 aircrews from Poland fought in the infamous and critical "Battle of Britain" indeed 303 Squadron was to become the highest scoring Squadron of that Battle. However our memorial is also to remember the contribution by Allied pilots from South Africa, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Rhodesia, Jamaica, Barbados and Newfoundland, as well as pilots from occupied Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and France, the US pilots who flew in the RAF Eagle squadrons, and the pilots from Eire.

As we enter the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, we remember the continued contribution and sacrifice made by those Allied pilots throughout the war.

Since our initial partnership with the Polish Embassy, London we have been immensely proud to help tell the story of the huge contribution and sacrifice made by the Polish airmen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBgIdEMpxLU&t=68s

The event will also witness the 1st public appearance of the newly restored and unique First World War Bomber, the Airco DH9 - a Type also used by the US Airforce during WW1 and also by the newly formed Polish Airforce post WW1.

Entry to the event is by Advanced Ticket purchase only.

Tickets are limited and available online at

From Historic Aircraft Collection - "It is with enormous sadness and regret that the ‘Vintage Evening’ on the 22nd June, due to be held at IWM Duxford, has been canceled due to a combination of challenges outside of our control.

The DH9 flight test program is progressing excellently and ahead of schedule. The Historic Aircraft Collection fleet is fully serviceable, thanks to the determined efforts of our pilots, engineers and ground crew. Without them and the dedication of our supporters, none of these unique and historic aeroplanes would exist.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our forthcoming U.K. and European events in the coming months.

For ticket refunds please contact the Imperial War Museum Duxford".
