Thanks for comments, there was no end of ways i could have gone with this theme, decided to stretch the grey matter a bit, birdy had to get worm above ground to eat it.

Nice and sharp with a decently blurred background. I struggle with it a bit because the colours are all the same, but then that's nature for you.

One of my favorite butterflies, they can be very skittish, in all honesty i was a bit disappointed with shot eye was a bit out of focus.

Hold - Now that is a super bee image Walter, excellent detail and perfect for the theme, nothing I don't like about that one

Shoehorn smoke/steam Think this would go well in mono so you could bring out the sky more.

The smoke photo might benefit from a little bit of dehazing, and pity about the power lines in front of the factory. But fits the brief!

Super shot of the bee Walter, you've really captured some detail there.
Smoke is a bit hazy, but we are dependent on the weather, it certainly fits the theme.

Feels a bit washed out to me. Probably something to do with moisture in the atmosphere.
Have you considered having a play with levels or clarity?

Well done for getting a different take on the theme, even if it is steam it still says smoke to me.

Smoke might have a couple of issues, but I think you've composed it well framed by the greenery and the pylon to the left and off centre.

It maybe be slightly OOF, but it pops nicely from the background.
That the wings have more blur than anything else gives it a feel of motion.
