Hey All,

I'm back asking yet more questions..

I recently took this image for a local comp

Whilst I'm generally really happy with the image itself I'm really confused why the image has the orange tint to it as to the eye the sky was black

Here is one of the images straight off the camera which shows the same

Now obviously this is a setting on my camera but for the life of me I can't figure out which.

I have been out a couple if times since and the same thing is happening.

Any advice for a newb?

Thanks in advance

First, love the star trails.
Orange tint? My guess would be street/city lights. When you leave the shutter open for as long as you have the camera is sucking in all light.

Your exif says your white balance is manual so that may be the problem. You can remove colour casts like this in post, easy if you have shot in raw

The cameras just picking up tungsten street lights. When you're out at night you'll not notice these with your own eye, but they'll appear when your exposure time goes up. Just shoot in RAW and it'll be easy corrected in PP

light pollution..your eyes cant pick it up, but its there all the same.

Thanks all,

I will keep trying and keep on my PP techniques :ty:

I just lower the orange and yellow in lightroom until its acceptable.

High pressure sodium lamps.... the bane of any astronomer's life.

I also quite like the orange cast on this occasion but there are gaps in the trails - do you have any form of noise reduction switched on?
