Whats 1" long has 14 legs and lives on the sea shore

I've absolutely no idea what this beastie was, but it was:
- dangling from an overhang on some rocks at the edge of the sea
- dead as Dodo,but cant have been there that long as the tide would have got it.

Looks a bit like a MASSIVE wood louse, but its clearly not... any takers to ID this thing?

Nice shots.
I like the way you can see the legs in the second, which is very hard to do with them being so small and close to the ground.
