What's a leading line?

Bloody hell - that’s how to do “foreground”

Love the composition and light of one. Very edifying although with a 3x4 or 5x7 or even 4x5 taking off the bottom you’d have a less skinny looking picture - although as present that would make a belting smart phone wall paper

Thanks Steve; I know the first is rather narrow but it works for me. I suppose it's the way the eye+brain sees that means a panorama is more easily accepted than a narrow vertical.

That leading line is a bit wishy washy. (my attempt at humour)

I’m viewing on my phone and initially the top one looks utterly amazing but as you’d scroll down it loses a lot of impact because of the tall aspect ratio...you could go square on this in my opinion or a 4:5 crop and it will have so much more impact. The second picture doesn’t have the same appeal

Thanks for the comment - I have no problem with aspect ratios like this. Look, for example, at some of Mark Rothko's paintings (not that I'd compare myself to Rothko...).
