Bit of Carling tonight... although I do like a bit (a lot) of Newky Brown Ale. Drank 14 bottles of the stuff in one night once. Took me 45 minutes to walk 300yds home. :D Mates kept buying me into rounds as it was my post-marriage 'do' (long story - got married in gretna green, had a 'do' a week later at home). I had 5 of 'em lined up at one point.

Brown & Mild

A mixture of 1/2 pint of Ansells Mild and a 1/2 pint of Manns Brown.

Just a hint of sweetness, and only 3% proof, what i would call a session beer.

the second would be Bathams Bitter, brewed by an independant brewery, the strength changes with the mood of the master brewer.

If this is open to non ales, my pick would be "Aspalls draught Cyder". It can be had for about £1.70 a bottle at Asda and is the best cider i have tasted so far. Sweet and no artificial crap in there. Really makes strongbow taste like bleach.

Give it a shot ;)

As for beers, WaggleDance is a firm favourite!

Manns Brown and Bitter (good old Scouse pint) followed by 'Waggledance' honey beer from Tescos or any of the Tesco/Asda range of bottled strong real ales.

Is this a scottish tradition?

Was up in Edinburgh with a mate once - wandered into a pub opposite the Odeon Cinema and the barkeep offered me half a pint of stout with a whiskey chaser.

Me and me mate had two of 'em each, and had to literally crawl back to our B&B! To this day I dunno what we drank! Liquid bloody dynamite, I think. :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Recently tried some ale made in Edinburgh by "Innes and Gunn" very nice but a bit flavoursome for my tastes. Mostly I prefer two beers from the Isle of Skye Brewery, Red Cuillin (4.2) and Black Cuillin (4.5) both excellent!

Newcastle Brown is OK, though it used to turn me slightly deranged...

Caffreys is lovely, there was a promotional night on that, stuff went down so smooth, was fine sitting down but after 4 it was my turn to go to the bar, but for some reason my legs had stopped working. Dont remember anything past 10pm and a mate of mine woke up in teh park next morning, no-one can remember how he got there though!

Current fav is Stones

Guess I'm going to have to try some of these names

Mostly drink Grolsch - brewed in Holland though. Tastes different to the UK made stuff.

Bought some specialist French lagers in funny looking bottles last time I did the chunnel thing.... some were Ok some were yuk. One with a big 8.6 on the front was very good :)

Current beverage of choice is Waggledance produced by Youngs brewery although have been making my way through the local Tesco's selection of ciders. Made the mistake of not reading the label on one brand sat down to watch a film with a few of them woke up on the sofa in the morning with a headache. Looking at the label the next day revealed it was 7.5% didn't taste like it though :)

Banks's Mild - best beer in the world . . . . . .

oooh, tricky call.

being in wales i have to go for brains as the ale, prob SA.

but for the beer, it'd have to be belgian, prob leffe brun or maybe kwak or chimay

Waggle Dance (Honey Beer) they flog it in Tescos etc.

I'm buzzing after a couple of bottles

Red Cuillin for me, lovely stuff :)

Oh yes please!
We get some cracking strong bottled ales up this neck of the woods..none of your mamby pamby gnats pee you southern shandy drinkers are used to :flipoff:

Czech Rep by the look of it, Maybe Slovak Rep.
My fave is the dark version of Krusovice - bought a case of it back from Prague on my last visit. They sell the lager version here, but I guess the dark beer doesn't travel well as I've never seen it.

Guinness or Strongbow or when the mrs aint about a poor mans black velvet which is a mixture of the 2. Tends to make you fall down a lot though!!!!!

Well I would like to announce that today I have given up smoking and have started a money tin with the money saved to buy camera gear.
Anyone care to join me so we can egg each other on?

That is a fantistic idea Bachs! What an incentive too. How long have you had the hook in ya? They say the longer the hook the harder it is to quit. I dont' know about that though cause I had smoked for 10 years and quit cold turkey. I just think when your ready, your ready. Mind you I was pregnant. I did it for me babies too. :) The best of luck to ya! It's damn worth it that's for sure.

Jewel.
