I have had Zerene Stacker for a while but never used it much. For the past week or so I have been using Helicon Focus. I really like it.
If you are interested you can read about my early experience with Helicon Focus in this thread at DPReview. You may have seen the seven close-ups stacked using Helicon Focus that I posted in this thread in this forum.
There is a 15 minute video here, the second half of which describes what I had learnt in my early (first day) experience with Helicon Focus.
I now know more about Helicon Focus than I did when making that video and writing that post at dpreview. I am preparing a follow-up post at the moment and that should be posted at DPReview in the next day or two, possibly tomorrow, unless I run into complications.
I use Helicon. Sometimes not always great if the images are too misalligned. You can try it and Zerene - which many people like, for free on trial to see what you prefer.
I just had a go with it myself, the Windows version.
Didn't have my focus rail with me so was moving the desktop tripod by hand.
Quite pleased with my first attempt.
