I have a birthday gift I need to sort. I need a supplier who can offer proper advice on best complimentary paper, proportions etc and ultimately framing it as well. So not just a photobox type place, I need a bit of input as well.

I used to always use my local, Digitalab in Newcastle for stuff like this but they've just informed me that they now only supply to professional photographers, of which I am not one.

Anybody got any recommendations?

Unreal. Had you been a terribly demanding non-pro client? Are they trying to lose you as a customer? If not it seems arrogant beyond belief. What they may be fed up with is people who don't soft-proof and then whinge beause it "doesn't look like it did on my tablet". If you ask them to send you a claibration image and show you do soft proof they might be fine. If not i would write a stinker to their MD.

Proportions and framing are really up to you, they are printers not artists! Paper? What sort of subjects, what sort of mood, how large, what sort of setting do you display in?

PS Rouhgly where are you based?
