The same happened a couple of years ago, the authorities spent a fortune to repair and strengthen the bridge................. then let a whole load of 44 tonne trucks continually pass over it

Access to WWT Slimbridge is via a swing-bridge over a canal ... it has got stuck open a couple of times in the past, leaving no possible access from the reserve!

I think it is the electronics that control the hydraulic rams that lift the road
