I don't know when this happened so did not see the bird. Any ideas welcomed.

Looks like a Pigeon to me.

Lesser splattered pigeon?

Sorry folks, I should have said the width of the impression is 56cm and the length of the primary on the extreme left of the shot is 16cm.

Someone on another forum has suggested a collard dove. This would fit as we have a few around here in NW Scotland and there is a lot of chasing about going on just now.

However, any other suggestions will be welcomed.

To me, given the colour, it looks more like a blackbird or a crow. A collared dove would have a more greyish colour. What settings were you using?

f7, 1/250s zoom lens at about 80mm. The editing has made the colour of the impression look a bit more blue than in reality, but the there is definitely a blue tinge to the image on the window. Blackbirds are common so that is a possibility. Hooded crows are also around but very rarely seen in the garden.

Thanks

Dave

Pigeon/dove of some variety. They have far dustier plumage than most other birds so leave clearer window angels.

Having this happen on a regular basis, my moneysm on the dove/pigeon option.
