Wood Duck!!

What seems to be an escapee has been hanging around a loch about 30 minutes drive from where I am. Had to go and see it in it's beautiful plumage today. So glad I went.

They are a very smart colourful bird and there are a few in the wild within the UK but mostly central/southern England.

Lovely shot - I have seen them down in Somerset - never bothered to Photograph them

There was a female on my local little reservoir a few years ago. She just appeared out of nowhere, hung around for quite a while then disappeared again. She always looked a bit lonely, trying to hang out with the local mallards but they wouldn't quite accept her. They're beautiful birds.
