A couple from the garden today. The highlights are a little harsh - I probably should have diffused the light in retrospect. As I was photographing the fly I noticed this droplet of water appearing and disappearing from its mouth. Is it regurgitating? It looks very clear, but the fly wasn't drinking as I watched it. Fascinating to see, anyway!

Nice captures and renditions, Emma,
I pick the cricket.

Nice shots Emma
The Yellow dung fly is what is often called blowing bubbles and may flies do that

Aha - thanks for that Alf. Sounds much nicer than what I suspected ;)

Emma you could be right or not as it is not known for sure why they do it.
