Hi All,

Took my new long lens (sigma 150-600 C) on its second outing last weekend - I figured the extra reach might be a good fit for the Yorkshire Wildlife park and specifically wanted to get some shots of their Lions and Polar Bears. I am trying to challenge myself to get some 'different' zoo shots. Obviously it can be luck in terms of what the animals are actually doing - but I am aiming for either shots I personally have a lack of or trying to see and capture the more 'creative' view of what is in front of me. I don't have a lot of full body shots of lions - I tend to gravitate towards head shots - so that was on the to-do list...

...and then for the 'be more creative' portion I was just trying to use the light in an interesting way, frame things differently than I would normally, or see a 'mono' conversion possibility (which I know is not everyones cup of tea but I like mono lions). Here's what I came home with:

4. The lovely Allis sat herself under the bridge and looked up into the light. Positioned myself to try to create a dark background and capture the warmth of the light on her face:

5. Close up of Ares enjoying his snack:

6. Two versions of the same shot of Allis - again using the shadows to create a dark background but I had mono in mind. In the second version I have cloned out the patches of light that remained to create a clean BG in post processing but tbh - I now think I prefer the first with them in. Opinions welcome!

7. Another different framing of Ares - just wanted to fill the frame with all of the gold:

C&C always welcome, thanks for looking :)
