Took this hand held with my 18-200 3.5-5.6
Not as easy as it looks, as this was the best of a bad bunch I'd say. Thought it was just a butterfly caught in a web, then the spider appeared. Shot as a JPEG.
Wish I had a macro lens

What kit you using?... A raynox 250 or reversing the 18-200 could work great for you.

Macro lens is not the height of macro. In fact I would put it at 4/5th for IQ.

Hi Bryn,

D7000 with the 18-200 lens. This was taken a couple of weeks ago.
I've bought a reversing ring and been trying with my 50mm 1.8G lens. Last night was the first I'd tried the reversing ring, but the light wasn't great and I didn't have any keepers.
Would the 18-200 be better reversed than the 50?

These were with the 50 reversed, but in fairly dull low light.

Did you fix aperture before reversing? Also if you have flash then use it and diffused if you can.

Also grab a torch and attach it as focus light will help no end.

I set the aperture around f13. I only have the on camera flash at present.
I'll persevere and hopefully things will improve.
Thanks for your help.

This was with the 18-200 @ 200 (not reversed) with full flash, non diffused.
