Opened the curtains this morning, this little'n jumps down to the windowsill. I've been after one of these for a while, so I'm quite happy and hope it's an omen for today's woodland walk!
Even at 1:1 macro, I've had to crop quite a bit, this fella was tiny.

EOS 550D. 55mm 0f M42 manual extension tubes, with a reversed Pentax SMC-A 50mm at f11. Hotshoe flash on manual at 1/16th power to fill.

Great shot, you've done a brilliant job getting the focus on the eyes as the dof looks miniscule.

Thanks!
This was attempt No4., which is spot on my 1-in-4 average at the moment. Pretty good natural light and contrast between the spider and UPVC windowsill really helped a lot, too.
Tony, I was wondering if it stayed still for so long because it could see it's reflection in the lens, either as a rival or mate?

I don't know if these bugs are vain or not
he/she could have been admiring themselves from the reflection in your lens (y)
maybe NOT :D
