Zoom phone lines?

Anyone heard of this, seems an elderly neighbour has somehow moved her phone line to someone called Zoom but not her broadband
They seem have cut off the phone as she hasn't paid the bills, which it seems aren't collected by DD or any other automatic system.
The only thing I can find is this https://www.zoom-internet.co.uk/ which states no phone line but BT say her existing line is no longer with them
Anyone got any ideas what is going on

Is this a move that she opted for?

If not and it is a "surprise", it sounds like an example of "phone slamming".....................IMO a piratical method of taking over a persons utility account. We had this with our electricity account but I first of it in regard to a phone line practice.

If it is like what we experienced, we leaned hard of EDF to 'own the problem' as we got nowhere with the culprit :( :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I will have a dig and see if I can find anything???

A search reveals all these happenings

A quick skim read of these links infer that Zoom come across as very shady...........................so if in the case of your neighbour is as I surmised I do hope you are able to aid her in sorting it AOK.

PS because of the similar'ish situation we had, reading your post really this winds me up big time.

It seems/seemed at the time that as the customer, because the changes to improve(?) switching easily to a different provider, we had no control over this imposed & unauthorised change. "They" also tried to take the gas account account but BG were quicker than EDF to respond and rectify.....though to EDF's credit once they 'owned the problem' they acted efficiently!

t the end of the day I have no idea, not a move and initaally want to know if anyone has had any dealings with them,
I had never heard of them and still not sure who/what they are

Okey dokey :)

Though based on the heads up your post makes and seeing the info I found I would not touch them with the proverbial barge pole!

PS for information ~ they are not listed here https://forums.thinkbroadband.com/ as an ISP that folk are using.................I have in the past been a logged in member there and it is IMO a great resource for getting real users experiences feedback to inform ISP choices ;)

Ooops! my bad ~ it was that on the Google links I saw about Zoom mention was made that they are also an internet service provider so the web forum I mentioned was to see whether there were any customer service experiences of note???

Is this connected to those sites that promise to get you the cheapest deals , and once with them switch you around automatically

No she was with BT and not looked to change wants to stay with BT but some how seems to have moved over to this lot
phone only

Some how the person who was dealing with left it in my lap, I am now totally brain dead !!!
Tried to access her emails but we couldn't even reset the password, so I phoned BT and by chance got a very helpful
lady who actually allowed me to deal with it when I explained the person concerned was disabled, confused and getting very stressed.
Seems this lot are well known to BT and a lot of complaints have been made.
I was then lucky enough to be passed to a very helpful guy, who's grandfather had the same thing happen to him
so he has given me the route to go down, which should hopefully get the money she sent to get her phone back returned.
Even better he is getting her put back to BT, almost immediately as a priority due to her circumstances and as soon as they
get her original number back from Zoom she can have that back too, I was lucky to speak to the right people
Lucky escape was, Zoom were also about to take over the BB which had already been cancelled as not required so
hopefully things will get back to what she wants now, I just have to deal with Ofcom on Monday

So those with elderly relations do keep an eye out this lot seem to target them they offer a good deal, ask if that's ok and if the answer is yes you are signed up !!!

^^^

I am pleased you have managed to get things moving for her, you're a good egg (y):jaffa:

Thanks, I was just very lucky to get the right people on the other end, the previous person that was trying to deal with it was told there was no way BT could do anything with someone under contract, but then she never told them of the lady's age, health problems etc. I can't fault they way they dealt with it for me
Just got to speak to OFCOM on Monday, already have a case number, so hopefully we can get her money back
