hi guys just a quickie.. :naughty:

how do i keep the exif in a shot..

when i save for web i think it strips it.

or is there a free program out there that i can use instead..

md:shrug:

Save for web does strip it..
however saving as normal Jpeg apparently works (however my exif is getting stripped on all edited images)

I have an action written that resizes to web size (edit: use File>automate>fit image), converts to profile, changes mode to 8bits per channel and adds a little smart sharpen. Saves a lot of time.

Then again if exporting from Lightroom you can avoid all of that. (y)

what i do is this..

resize to 800 on the longest edge.

save for web

optimize file size to 200kb save item then upload to tp

if i donnt save for web tp says file size exceeds size allowed

That's the problem.

Instead,
Open up PS
Load up your image and make any needed changes.
Resize to 800 on the longest size.
File > Save As
Pick the location and name with a Jpg file type
Hit save
Then on the quality box change the slider looking at the size of the resulting file just to the right of the slider.
Usually I find it's about 10 or 11 to keep it under 200kb. But this still has good quality.

Let me know if that's right, gotta dash off now.:)

When you've done the conversion from raw to jpg, I'm sure there's an option there somewhere to retain the exif data ... have you checked this?

Yep, I see it. It doesn't say what focal length though and I guess this is what you want.

if you opened a new document and placed the image in there (duplicated, copied, etc)
then yes.
i was using a new document as my resizing palette and it strips the EXIF.
try to resize etc in the original document and use save as.
post the results :)

this is the original resized to 800 longest side

and 9 on the slider giving 150 ish k
