While we were up visiting Donna Nook, Cobra managed to get some sand on the sensor of his 40D (we did advise not to change the lens on the beach), anyway, we didn't have a rocket blower or anything to clean it so myself an mrgubby suggested that he use the kitchen sink and run it under the water , Cobra decided to give it ago even though he was a tad unsure, sure you can guess the outcome......... one duff 40D, think it was when we convinced him the microwave was the best way of drying it that it got finished off :bang:.

Thing is he is now insisting that mrgubby and myself buy him a new camera, we don't agree, he shouldn't of listened to us, I mean we were in the bar when we discussed the idea ;) :D what do you think should we be responsible and buy the new camera for him.

Are you sure this is the best way to clean it.........

This isn't drying it............

Don't think this is a good idea to be honest........

You sure 5 Min's is enough to dry it............

Disclaimer......... Please do not follow Cobras lead and clean you sensor in this way, it will result in allot less photo taking, and your camera will die, just ask Cobra :D

I hope this is a leg pull as mrgubby who I met earlier this year didn't seem INSANE. :bonk:

All I did is ask what I thought were a couple of friends for advice
and look what the gits made me do :bat:

I voted that they should buy me a 7D as compensation for all the stress caused.
I hope that you will support you local snake and vote
YES

As grumpybadger has already said
Mr G is totally certifiable and he has a letter from his psychiatrist to prove it

Yep that and the other 'schoolboy error', using water straight from the tap as opposed to out the kettle or some fizzy mineral agua :p

As I understand it the water is very soft in that area so I don't see the
problem :D

As we said no 7D, and you should have known better we had been drinking for several hours. :D

Chris - I voted "no" as it looks like you didn't use washing up liquid...

He made a right mess with that bit. ;)

It wasn't the water that was soft ;)

:naughty: (y) :D

And you didn't use the brillo pad! :)

Didn't have any and to drunk to go out :D

No... it's your own fault. It sounds like you shouldn't believe 'em even when they're sober!

Besides... a dishwasher does a far better job..

cheers

surely gas mk 5 for 45 mins would be better :) and you can do some chips at the same time.

I've microwaved a print head before...and seen computer memory nuked too...it does tend to upset it a little

It will be your own fault if it does not turn out well Chris .... You should have asked Janice to help ... :D

I did think of Janice at the time, Kev thats why I skipped the Brillo pad bit (y)

So they were right then?
in that case as it went tits up, they must be liable :D

Wonder what would happen to a camera in a microwave ?????????
They ****ing melt, although the picture doesn't show it too well :(

Going by the poll not much chance of us having to get you a new one at the moment.

Nope, I seem to be coming second at the moment, Stu, but there is still time :D
Still, if I "win" you will do the opposite and not buy me one
so if I lose ;)

What I would like to know is, if the results of the poll say you should buy him a new camera are you going to do it :D

Well if it does go that way, then me and mrgubby have discussed our options and found the ideal camera to replace his 40D......

I looked through the instructions John,
But I couldn't find the "dishwasher safe" symbol
so thought that the tap might just be safer(y)
