the colours are nice and vibrant and there's some great detail , especially on the ends of the pencils , the grain on the bare wood looks very sharp

Yes! I like that a lot! A very novel twist on an art-related theme. That would look superb in an art shop. Good work.

I will want to do the same thing for myself now I've seen that photo!

Thanks, I agree looking at the on white images, to be honest when I look at them, I think it has less impact, because of the lighter colours being top right, I think I should have the colour reversed, because the grey pencil is getting lost a bit, think that would solve the impact issue, will do a re shoot with reversed colours,
