    Beginner iPhone

I did an iPhone challenge on Flickr and really enjoyed it. My 6 Plus is great. Especially for street or impromptu snaps.

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Flicking through some old photos taken with the A7RII and quite like this even though it lost a lot of contrast being shot through a shiny glass cabinet. Press down to clamp by Chris McDonald, on Flickr

Mac OSX - cloning bootcamp windows installation

I don't waste space with partitions. I run mutiple servers and OS on VMware Fusion so they all run at the same time and I can access them all without disrupting the next.

    Shoulder strap.

Yes, but my thin leather strap which is perfect for my A7Rii would not be used on the Nikon with some heavy G glass....

    Shoulder strap.

I think it depends on the camera. A D810 with grip and a 24-70 would need a more heavyweight strap to an A7rii with a prime.

    Mac Pro 5.1?

I'm thinking about buying a 4,1 or 5,1 Mac Pro and flashing EFI to accept top end Westmere processors (like in 2010+ Mac Pros) which still seems to be top end of Geekbench. I currently rock a Mac Mini Server i7 which punches above its weight at Mac Pro level (9k) single processor. However I...

The only thing I use 1:1 for is to see if I nailed focus.

Yes there is a lag in preview 1:1 - its due to the huge file sizes. A trade off of having such a high megapixel count (A7Rii). Its a trade off I can live with because most of my selection happens in Lightroom. Quick snap of the ground - again - using the articulating screen which is alien to a...

Mac OSX - cloning bootcamp windows installation

I've done this loads of times and Superduper has been the tool for the job.

I had a Minolta 50mm 1.7 on an A6000 I had a year or so ago. I had loads of fun and some interesting images with unique bokeh. Shame I sold it because as you say the peaking tool is very effective. Why not post some test images of the 85?

    NAS Drive horrendous transfer speeds

Use power plugs. Alternatively move phone line to where your kit is - easy job. Or use a power plug to connect your sky router setup in bridge mode to a more capable router/switch in your office which would be connected to NAS and devices.

I would love to learn how to do this type of photography. 27.5 hours of exposure!? How long did take you in days? (Dependant on clear skies).

Thanks. The exif is available if you click through to Flickr. It was taken with the Sony Zeiss Sonnar FE5518. Funnily enough he is also called Winston. Seems apt even if it is not original!

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Ive played with Nikon G lenses and Canon L lenses and the FE5518 Prime I have is very impressive build quality wise (as well as performance). Anyway ... I love the articulating screen, its proving useful with candid shots. Dad your so boring by Chris McDonald, on Flickr
