I used to use concertina bottles, but they are a bit of a pain to clean, and I heard that the plastic is slightly gas-permeable anyway (rather defeating the object!). These days I go into Boots (the chemist) and ask the pharmacy for their 500ml brown medicine bottles, which are REALLY cheap...
I don't think the strip at the bottom means anything much. There's no particular reason why a light leak should cover your whole image circle. It depends where the leak's getting in, the direction of the light, the shape of the gap etc.. etc..
I've had light leaks like that in the past that only happened on frames that were "in position" for a while while I was walking around in the sunshine. Those I'd taken quickly and wound on were OK. Looks like a camera leak, though, I agree.
Another +1 for a Weston Master V. Beautiful piece of kit, and really nice to use. Doesn't work brilliantly in very low light... but then again, neither does film! Try to find one with an "invercone" attachment, so you can take incident readings as well.

In 35mm format, I rarely stray far without my 35mm f/1.8 FD lens It seems to be just wide enough for me to get the shot I want without having to retreat too far from the subject.
Thanks for this link - I've been reading through their site and it's a mine of useful information! I'm particularly fascinated by the R3 monobath, which was news to me...
