I use the YN560EX models and they do most of what you want (I assume the already mentioned 600EX are the newer versions)
they do wireless TTL via the nikon CLS system and perhaps more importantly using the CLS system you can manually adjust the power output of your flashes from your camera...
If the issue is primarily cleaning... would the superior finish on a floor grade paint solve that? (assuming you can get it in the right colour) or would the glossier/satin protective finish ruin the shots?
I think the only brilliant white floor paint I've found so far is one from wickes
Thanks for the quick reply :-)
Regarding the upkeep, do you find that flaking/cracking to be the main issue? or is it rather the cleaning? i.e. is it more or less impossible to stop matt wall paint from getting dirty that it's easier just to periodically repaint it and because of that you don't...
I'm just in the process of converting part of my double garage into a home studio and one of the things I wanted to do was paint the floor with say a brilliant white garage floor paint but sadly the closest you can get seems to be white (not brilliant white). I'm a bit dubious of using regular...
Hi Stewart
The point about the flashgun possibly lighting both the subject & background makes perfect sense, but I've just tried another shot this time narrowing/snooting the beam to minimise any spill (the background now is certainly very dark) but again playing around with just background...
the flash is to the side of the prop and over 1m away from the background, granted there's likely some reflected off the wall to the left straying back into the rear wall but if that's the case it's going to be pretty hard to use this mode indoors unless you have a huge studio
does the D7100 have the remote commander feature on the popup flash?
if so something like the yongnuo 560ex makes a great wireless slave (it was doing a better job than the dodgy 2nd hand SB900 I picked up)
quick question, my nikon D600 has 2 options for flash compensation:
1) entire frame
2) background only
1) entire frame
0 ev
+3 ev
-3 ev
2) background only
0 ev
+3 ev
-3 ev
Okay I'm confused shouldn't the ambient light (background) exposure be varying in the 2)...
plenty of new alternatives (particular if you're interested in a liveview model) but with the release of the A77/65 it seems prices of the A700 have really tumbled and can be had for £350ish
I suspect it depends a lot on your insurance company & the disclaimers surrounding your cover, many will try to weasel out on technicalities so read up your T&Cs before making a claim.
With the sonys there's no sure way of checking how much use they've had (the shutter count can be reset) but ultimately so long as there's no sign of cosmetic damage i wouldn't worry too much. There's a lot of people who pick up entry level DSLR cameras who never really get into it my 2nd hand...
