Thanks guys for your comments, I found the fly sitting on a blue plant pot and the colours looked good. I did try to turn the pot towards me to get a front facing picture (and focus on the eyes lol) but the fly vanished!!
The problem with using the reverse lens is getting the aperture right...
My first ever Macro
So I did a search for 'macro lenses' and found an adapter that allows you to fit your lens back to front. Without even knowing it I had one of these in my bag so here's the outcome
I used my 50mm 1.8g lens with a 58mm nikon mount!

That's great Matt! Really pleased with the out come of that. I took several shot with different shutter speed but none (other than the HDR) with different exposure settings. Although I took a lot of my pictures in jpeg I did take some RAW pictures too!

I actually went to take a picture of the Thames Barrier and came back with this picture taken from right next to the Barrier

I live quite near the bridge and travel across it once a week, but too found it hard to get a suitable spot to take the picture! In fact it took me about 2 hour to find how to get close lol.
I originally tried to get access from the west side of the bridge (left of where I took the picture) but...
Thanks for your input, I did ponder on cropping the picture but liked the way the cables to the left of the left main upright balanced the picture, I'll upload a crop to see!

Thanks! The Bridge is extremely high and I wanted to keep the top of the bridge in frame. I guess I was about 50 feet from the first pillar. If I had more time I could of gone lower down the bank to remove the first pillar from the shot but I'm happy with the outcome
