The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Got my 24-240 yesterday, just in time for holiday next week. I've always liked superzooms (had the Nikon 18-300 for a long time), and this looks to be a very good one. Pretty impressed with first few test shots. Certainly light years ahead of the awful kit lens. Keeping my 50 Summilux for now...

Took a few shots on the weekend, mostly with the 50 Summilux but a few on the kit lens. The kit lens is fine, my only real complaint is that you have a nice metal solid feeling body with a horrible plastic thing on the front :P Really itching to get the Sony 28 F2 , need to shift my M6 or 12mm...

Other half wants some headshots done over the weekend so I'll have a look. Maybe the SL is just that much better and the side by side makes the M look poor by comparison, but I've never thought it looks that soft.

    I've got a pre-ASPH 50 Summilux M and it's better than those shots! Someone has a duffer.

It's the view from my balcony of a particularly grey and cold Düsseldorf :) Was hoping my last day off would give me some decent light to get out but no luck.

Been a long time since I've shot digital! Shot again in RAW and applied the LR profile. Still a little magenta cast but a flat grey sky like that is always a worst case scenario DSC05597 by Chris Ashworth, on Flickr

DSC05594 by Chris Ashworth, on Flickr Voigtlander 12mm has some pretty bad magenta fringing on the A7 as I expected but it's kind of a fun lens rather then for anything serious.

I think it's just this cheapo adapter I have. Close focus is a bit further out than on the M6 and if I move the focus ring to infinity I have to dial it back a mm or two to get it sharp. I usually zone focus anyway so not a big deal, and with the focus magnifier it's obvious something is off...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

I've mostly been shooting Acros and the local labs have two weeks turnaround time on B&W which was the main bugbear. Quite often had films badly trimmed and one scratched. Mostly I was waiting for a rangefinder-sized digital FF but wasn't going to pay Leica money. Had been watching A7 prices...

Finally went for it and picked up an A7 over the holidays. I've been shooting just film on my Leica M6 TTL for the last 5-6 years but become increasingly unhappy with the quality of developing I could get round here...and of course convenience! Only had a chance for a quick stroll with it, but...

    Top Quality Keyboard

Great keyboard. I have the Shine 3. If it's the same as the 3, it'll have two different spacebars, mine had a year of the snake, and one with a small Ducky logo instead that is much more subtle. Real men use MX Blue clickies ;)

How far/long do you travel for work

Haven't done more than a 20 minute commute for over 5 years now, much prefer it. I did spend many years as a consultant racking up crazy miles but glad I don't bother with it anymore, there are better things to do with your life.

    Panorama - Apple's broken promises

Each to their own, I don't like to run unsupported internet connected software with known vulnerabilities, seen enough mess caused by it in my time to not want to clear it up. Regarding 3G/4G speeds. I was using a Lumia 920 on 4G, it was plenty fast for downloading large files and streaming...

    Panorama - Apple's broken promises

Fair enough, I'd forgotten about patchy mobile networks, has the UK still not sorted this out? Besides....as a reason up get the latest smartphone, none of these is a great one to call out, as they aren't available on UK networks yet.
